About this Talk
For some folks, planning a romance novel means outlining—they sit down, list out a bunch of scenes that will in their novel and bing, bang, boom they’re ready to write.
For other folks it’s not that easy and that term “outlining” is terrifying or panic inducing or just gives them the ick. It takes the fun out of writing or just seems scary.
But for those of us who aren’t either of those extremes—clear plotters and pansters who have a process that’s working for them. We need to find a different way. That’s why I named the process I do with my clients “mapping”.
In this session, you'll learn about some of the key things to think on before you start drafting your novel or when you want to turn that sandbox draft into a more cohesive first draft.
Things like:
- Novel premise and point – guiding light for your story
- Love interest characters – who need misbeliefs that fuel their journey and arcs of change from the beginning to the end of the story
- Plot – what actually happens on the page
- Romance Beats – those key moments in the story that romance readers expect
